A Christmas Cod
People play vastly different sorts of games at Christmas time. For me, a certain British platformer always comes to mind. James Pond 2 (the Amiga version specifically)will always be one of my Christmas traditions. It is drenched in Christmas trappings, from the North Pole setting to the jaunty music.
The game doesn’t simply rely on its aesthetics – the underlying gameplay is reasonably good as well. James Pond 2 features an emphasis on verticality in its level design. This sets it apart from other platformers of the era.
I just know that, whether it’s the game, the time of year or just that awesome theme song, I look forward to playing this game at Christmas. And you know what? That’s good enough for me.
