Buddy Cop Simulator
With mullets, sweet cars and a blues-ey soundtrack, Lucky & Wild was an arcade experience like no other. Part driving game, part light gun shooter, it let players live out their fantasies of being in an 80’s action movie car chase. A pulpy atmosphere, excellent animation and some hilarious digitised voices helped make this game stand out in busy arcades. There are some great setpieces in this game that pay homage to the best film car chases of all time.
The cabinet is a huge reason why Lucky & Wild remains so memorable. A full driving setup (including wheel and pedals) is matched with two light guns whose operation can be shared at will. Being able to share the responsibility for the guns adds a whole new dimension to the game and helps elevate it beyond other light gun games of the era. The wheel and pedals also added excitement to the proceedings, ensuring that there was never a dull moment if you and a friend were playing the game. Lucky & Wild was an extremely dynamic game that is still just as fun to play today.
Give it a go and live out your inner Riggs and Murtaugh fantasies!
