The Love Bug
With complex tracks, bright colours and one of the catchiest soundtracks on the console, Beetle Adventure Racing is a hidden gem. Whilst the cart racers stole most of the limelight, this game easily sits at the top of the ladder alongside them when it comes to the top racing games on the console.
Beetle Adventure Racing is a strange mix of ‘realistic’ graphics with arcade gameplay. Players are encouraged to explore tracks to find hidden areas and shortcuts. This game also featured one of the funkiest soundtracks of any game for the Nintendo 64.
Beetle Adventure Racing is really just a happy game. It’s not pretentious, it’s cheesy in an endearing way and it’s just a whole lot of fun to play!
