Bandicoot in your pocket
After a stellar run on the original Playstation, Crash eventually made the jump to other consoles with the Huge Adventure. One of them was Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance, putting the Bandicoot in direct competition with both Sonic and Mario. How did this portable outing stack up to both the competition and the franchise’s standards?
Better than you might have expected, actually! The 2d gameplay is smooth and features physics that emulate the originals fairly accurately. The game also makes clever use of the Game Boy Advance hardware to recreate the classic ‘running towards the camera’ sequences from the earlier games. Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure isn’t the best platformer on the Game Boy Advance, but it’s a pretty darn good one and a great attempt at squeezing a massive game into a portable version.
This is definitely a good little game to pick up on the cheap.
