Quote – Chris Seavor
How did Rare churn out so many classics during their heyday? Insiders like Chris Seavor have dropped some hints about ‘old-school’ development processes at Rare. They have significantly changed over the years.
Rare changed when Microsoft took over, with more complicated processes being put in place for game development. This was a significant change for the development house. Chris described the old process of development as being more free-flowing and fluid.
There was no set-in-stone initial script, no world-building bible to follow. Just a bunch of developers who would sit down together, ask each other what they thought would be fun, then go off and build it to try it out.
