Time for a second job
Sony has seen some massive swings in public perception after the annual E3 events. If E3 2015 was a dream for Sony, than E3 2006 was a nightmare.
It should have been an easy home run for Sony. This was to be the major unveiling of the Playstation 3, with its games and hardware specs the centrepiece of the presentation. But the conference as a whole was derailed by patronising promo videos, a lacklustre lineup of launch titles and awkward integration of the Vita. The final punch to the gut was the price of the Playstation 3 – $599 US dollars in North America, with other regions faring little better. E3 2006 was a long time ago now, but the effect it had on Sony still echoes.
Then finally, the kicker, the moment of truth, the big one. After all the games, the hardware, the promises, it all came down to the price.
