A poor substitute

Star Fox was an absolute classic for the Super Nintendo, but was never ported to the Game Boy Advance. Star X attempted to fill the void, but was it a worthwhile copycat?

In short, not really. The 3D graphics and engine tech was impressive, but Star X was marred by poor controls and dull gameplay. Your ship is incredibly twitchy and the game simply isn’t fun to play. It’s a shame, since there was clearly a lot of effort put into pushing so many polygons on the limited Game Boy Advance hardware.

It just goes to show that technology isn’t everything – the game wrapped around it must be worthwhile.

Star X feels like a tech demo, not a finished product.
