A wet dream

Wetrix is an abstract puzzle game that seems to channel the spirit of the old computer demoscene in many ways. It also features some of the most impressive water effects ever seen on a gaming console to that point. The Nintendo 64 was mostly known for its platformers, kart racers and first-person shooters, so a creative puzzle game like Wetrix was a breath of fresh air.

The game follows ‘Bushnell’s Law’ – easy to learn, hard to master. The player must deform the terrain to try and collect as much water as possible, without letting it run off the edge of the play area. It sounds simple but don’t be fooled. Wetrix will test your skills to their limits.

It almost feels like it is from another universe where Amiga tech demos were the basis for modern Nintendo games.
